Dog Cleaning Tip

We have a cute mad Jack Russell terrier called 'Dolly' she gets into all kinds of trouble. It would be almost impossible to give her a bath. That horrible 'doggie smell' is really gross! What is the answer? Simple; Baby Wipes are great and the dog seems to enjoy being wiped down. This is a tip from owners that show dogs. Her coat is nice and shiny and keeps her smelling nice; well most of the time! If we could just find a cure for 'madness', see her website and diary:

LOST LUGGAGE TIPS: Avoiding Lost Luggage At Airports

Avoiding Lost Luggage At Airports

Last year my bags went missing when I arrived at Singapore. Fortunately I had taken some precautions which helped the airport customer services trace my luggage. This was the first time this had happened to me after many flights.

Make sure you put a label inside your bags with your home address and contact numbers. I also added a time line with all the flight numbers and dates.

Packing
You can get a lot more clothes in your bag if you roll them up and you will have much less creasing, for your nice outfits. Always take change of clothes and two days underwear in your hand baggage. Hotels have laundry or wash them yourself you can last a good while. Obviously you can buy some cheap clothes locally.

I put bright stickers on my cases to make them easy to spot on a busy luggage claim carousel.

Take photos of all your baggage. If you have a photo put flight number details on the back. Know the weight limits for your bags and weigh on bathroom scales to avoid embarrassment at check-in. Excess weight baggage can get expensive.

Make sure you keep the receipt for your bags you get at check-in. This will have a bar code on it which will help the airport staff to find your bags. KEEP COOL I was in a state of near panic!

Be polite with the staff, you are upset of course but they are trying to help you! You will have to fill a form in where you provide details of your hotel and forward journey. An email address is very useful if you don't have one get a free one like gmail or yahoo. Nearly all hotels have internet access these days.

My luggage finally turned up at my hotel after two days. I could have managed but my onward 3 week trip to Thailand, was so much better with all my stuff.

When back home, I sent an email thanking the customer services staff. Remember, they have a very difficult job handling abusive, upset people all day!

Taking Your Daily Dose Of Garlic

Taking Your Daily Dose Of Garlic
I was doing a little research into the affects of Garlic on reducing High Blood Pressure and I found that taking a daily dose of garlic can have a positive affect. At the moment my own BP is higher than it should be so I am just looking to help get it down without changing or increasing my medication. In my own case my diet has changed over the last year and my salt and sugar intake have increased. So I really need to eat less salty snacks, processed foods and chocolates.

One thing about garlic is it can do no harm! Apart from perhaps some bad breath! It does tend to repeat but garlic capsules get round this anyway. The active ingredient is a chemical called Allicin. Actually fresh Garlic does not contain the chemical. When garlic is cut or crushed alliin and the enzyme allinase, interact making Allicin.

Garlic does seem to be one of those natural 'wonder foods' that has a number of claimed benefits including:
Reducing Cholesterol and Fat Deposition
Helps with Male Impotence
Reducing BP as mentioned
Also good for zapping bacteria
Warding off coughs and colds
Acne cure

So taking a capsule or portion of garlic a day has got to be good for your health! It is an important component of the healthy 'Mediterranean Diet'. Although looking out on a wintery day here in Somerset, I think the sunshine and warmer climate must help.

If you have any vampires around your way, it is good for keeping them at bay! This really is an ancient remedy with no side effect so you can't real lose Taking Your Daily Dose Of Garlic!

Why Drinking Enough Water Can Help Keep Acne Away

Drinking Enough Water, Can Help Keep Acne Away
You are bombarded with advice and sent to buy expensive creams and lotions, when there is something you can try first for FREE

You probably don't know this yet but product wastes and toxic build up in your system is one of the main reasons why you have acne or why your skin breaks out.

You see, your body has 4 channels of elimination...your bowels, kidneys, lungs, and your skin. Your bowels and kidneys are the primary channels that your body expels product wastes and toxics through.

The only time that your body expels product wastes through your lungs and skin is when your bowels and kidneys are overloaded with product wastes and toxics.

This can happen when you're not drinking enough water. You see, water is the main carrier of nutrients throughout your body and is quite possibly the single most important contributor to healing and preventing acne flare-ups.

Drinking enough water will dissolve waste products in your system so it can be easily remove and flush out. Without enough water, there won't be much to dissolve these product wastes and toxics...causing it to build up in your system and causing your body to expel these product wastes and toxics through your lungs and skin.

And this can and will result in acne breakout.

How much water should you be drinking each day to dissolve product waste and flush out toxins from your body?

Although some would say you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and some would say 3 liters a day or half of your bodyweight in ounces a day.

I say, you should drink only enough to see that your urine is mostly clear, which is probably much more than what you're drinking now.

But I wouldn't recommend you going overboard because drinking too much water will also flush out electrolyte minerals out of your system (which is not good).

So how do you know how much water you should be drinking each day?

Test!

Start by drinking 7 glasses of water a day for the next 2 to 3 days. If you see that your urine is clear then 7 glasses of water a day is what you should be drinking.

But remember, you don't want to go overboard so you may want to try drinking 6 glasses of water a day. If you see that your urine is kind of yellow drinking 6 glasses of water a day then you should stick to 7 glasses of water a day. If not then you should stick with 6 glasses of water a day.

But if you find that 7 glasses of water a day is not enough. Then you should try drinking more glasses of water a day and see the results.

What you're trying to do here is make sure you're drinking enough water each day. Not too much or too little. Another important thing you should know...

You can't just drink any type of water. There are certain types of water that's full of toxins (such as tap water). The 2 types of water I recommend you drink is distilled water and purified water. Distilled water has no minerals, which means if you drink it, it will leach out any unwanted non-organic minerals from your system.

But since distilled water has no minerals (it's just dead water), you will need to drink some purified water to oxygenate your system. However, you do need to drink them separately and drink it on an empty stomach for it to be effective.

While water alone will not eliminate your acne it will greatly assist your skin in remaining healthy and that will be one portion of the pie in fighting acne.

Magic of Making Up - How to Get Back With Your Ex?

How to Get Your Ex Back Magic of Making Up

Most of us experience break-ups with loved ones at sometimes in our lives. People who have been in long term relationships forget or do not realise how painful this is going to be. A break up can trigger a crazed mental state almost like a form of temporary insanity! You have to get through this period, which will pass or at least become manageable. It is the nearest thing to bereavement, in fact it can sometimes be worse, if the person leaves with someone else.

Let us just suppose after some sensible reflection that you genuinely want your Ex back! Here are a few tips which hopefully will help Get your Ex Back.

1. Give your ex space. Switch off that phone. (TEXT TERRORISM: Do you think texting 20 times a day is going to impress anyone?) Give them the gift of missing you!

2.
BE COOL! Don't seem desperate, clingy or needy. This is a BIG TURN OFF and you'll only push your ex away. Keep the jealously in check especially men.

3. I don't care attitude. (Even if you are like jelly inside) Show everyone you have confidence. Believe it or not this will get your ex back interested in you.

4. Be an Adult show maturity, do try not to be a baby. Especially Men! BE A MAN. In my experience sobbing only makes you look weak, weak and pathetic. In private let it all out!

5. Go out, get on with YOUR life. Eg. Do some sport where you can hit a ball or vent your frustrastion out running or on an excercise machine at the gym. Try and get a date or at least go out with friend of opposite sex.

6. Be straight AVOID playing games. These tend to escalate.

8. Don't tell your friends everything, they may take sides. Friends might even encourage you to breakup in their own interests.

OK, None of this stuff is exactly nuclear physics but we can be easily forget what we should be doing, when feelings are running high!

If you want a comprehensive guide and strategy to getting back with your Ex. I recommend:

High Blood Pressure Treatment (HyperTension)

High Blood Pressure Treatment (HyperTension)

Background: About 10 years ago aged 42, I started getting chest pains, so like a typical man I just ignored them and got on with life! Then about 5 years ago the pains became more intense and I did not seem to have the energy and buzz I used to have. I had just moved house to Macclesfield Cheshire UK and decided to register with a local doctor.

I thought this was going to be routine but turned out otherwise! The nurse took my blood pressure and it was 220/140, She said “WOW! Now that’s what I call hypertension” (If you don’t understand BP readings VERY High). In fact she sent me away for ten minutes and I came back and confirmed the readings on a separate machine. She spoke to the practise GP and they arranged for me to go to hospital in a couple of days for all kinds of tests including ECG on my heart.

Anyway it transpired that the high blood pressure had damaged my heart and I had developed a condition called LVH (Left Ventricular Hypertrophy) This is an enlarged heart muscle which is a bad thing! An efficient heart is small and in balance. LVH lots of people die early of this undiagnosed condition. Anyway I was told to take things easy for a while and they put on loads of different drugs to get the BP down to a safe level.

Yes, we got the blood pressure under control but I had a miserable year of feeling ill, not because of my condition but because of the drugs prescribed by the doctor.

Lisinopril, (ACE Inbibitor) also known as Zestril & Prinivil. I developed the classic symptons including bad cough, tiredness, skin rashes and palpitations. I thought the cough was more likely to give me heart attack, than hypertension!

Atenolol (Beta Blocker) This made me impotent and I had dizzy spells as well. Apparently many bp drugs kill your sex drive. The doc doesn’t tell you that!!

I started to take note of my problems and did some research on the web. After going through several more drug regimes, I finally persuaded the Doctor to put me on Cozaar Losartan Potassium (Angiotensin II antagonist) and Bendroflumethiazide (Diuretic water tablets). Of course these drugs were twice the cost of my existing medications, so that was one reason why the doctor did not want to prescribe them! (Out of his NHS Trust budget).

Anyway these medications are by no means perfect but work for me. So I have been interested in natural remedies every since. I have reduced my alcohol intake drastically and I live a more healthy lifestyle. After a year of being a good boy. I had a scan on my heart and it was getting back to normal size. It is still a weak heart so needs looking after! So I do more exercise than I used to. That seems to have done the trick for me!

Heartburn Part 2

Hi again,

Lots of people were interested in my heartburn topic, so as this is such an important topic area, I decided to review a few ebooks on the subject of heartburn and anti acid reflux treatments and put up a quick website.

Today many people work so hard in stressful situations we forget that our bodies need maintenance. If you don't maintain a car it will breakdown sooner or later. Our bodies are the same, so if you neglect your health eventually there will be consequences!

Some very simple things you can do if if you suffer from heartburn. Cut down on strong coffee, chocolate and of course the booze. Regular small meals that don't distend the stomach are better than big ones. The S word cuts down on the fags! Well it is that time of the year for resolutions!

Indigestion - is sometimes confused with heartburn/reflux discomfort. If the pain and discomfort is confined to the upper abdomen only that is heartburn. When your stomach is bloated with food and you want nothing else in the world to sit back in a reclining chair and belch, this is indigestion. Lifestyle as I have mentioned already (such as excessive stress and smoking) can contribute to this problem, as can certain medical problems, such as stomach ulcers.

NB. Persistent upper body pain can be associated with heart problems. SO DON'T take anti acid tablets like Pepcid or Lamoprazole for more than two weeks, please seek help from a medical health practitioner. This article is more about finding simple traditional remedies. Medication will always have its proper place within a structured anti reflux treatment plan.

When researching this topic, I was amused to find apples were a traditional cure for heartburn. Remember "An an apple a day keeps the doctor away", well when it comes to heartburn, there is some truth in this.

If this issue affects you, family member, or a friend please check out the website:

Is Organic Just Bullshit ?

For the purpose of this article I am describing ‘organic’ in the food sense rather than its chemical meaning of the ‘science of carbon’.

During economic hard times people have to manage their budgets. Many people around the world are NOT faced with so many choices. Organic farming methods are widely used in underdeveloped and developing countries, largely because of economics and a lack of chemicals. However, they are becoming more widely accepted in developed countries as a reaction to intensive or factory farming conditions.

Of course, for many people there is a deep moral and philosophical reason to eat organic produce. Such as animal welfare issues and vegetarianism.

In any system of production there is good and bad. There are good farmers and there are bad farmers. Attention to detail and good husbandry will determine the quality of produce.
When you head to the grocery store, shopping for products like eggs, meat, fish, milk, and produce can be very tricky. Signs are posted everywhere labeling food as natural, organic, and a number of other things but what’s the difference, really? Learning what specific names mean can help you decide if you should shell out extra money on a product of it is simply a marketing ploy.

What is ‘Natural’. ‘Natural is a turn associated with a number of fruit and vegetable product. Typically, this is simple a marketing ploy to convince you to buy the product. After all, all fruits and vegetables are natural, right? Unless it’s a new kind of food that has been developed and processed, the product is natural.
We have given the supermarket chains so much power that they can determine what we eat

What you really probably want is organic. Organic foods are grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. There are two main benefits to organic foods. First, you are helping the environment because those chemicals are not being introduced into nature. Secondly, you are avoiding ingesting complex chemicals and are therefore healthy more healthy foods.

However, organic products are usually more expensive. If you’re on a budget, skip over organic fruits and vegetables that you can peel, like oranges and bananas. After all, once you’ve discarded the peel, you’ve also discarded the chemicals. Instead, opt for organic items like apples, where you eat the peel. No matter what you buy, however, make sure that you rinse off the food when you get home.

Another tricky label you will see is “no hormones.” This is usually in regards to milk or meat products and is false, since all animals naturally produce hormones. Hormones are what helps an animal (even a human) regulate body organs, have young, and otherwise function. All meat products have hormones. What the labels really mean is that no hormones were unnaturally given to the animal, which is sometimes done to increase milk production. Regardless of hormones, however, the milk and meat is safe for a person and not a violation of an animal’s rights.

Lastly, a label on eggs and meat can indicate if the animal was caged or penned. This does not necessarily make a difference in the quality or nutritional value of the meat, but is simply a matter of animal rights. These products may be a bit more expensive, but if you want to make ‘human decisions’, that is the way to go. Reading the label and making healthy choices can sometimes be difficult, but learning how to do so can help you make the best choices for you diet.

When morals come up against profit, morals rarely win!

Clothing - Red Wine Spills

If you wear white or light clothing there sometimes seems to be almost a magnetic attraction to red wine. Conventional wisdom says to put on white wine or soda water to dilute a stain. Firstly, though dry the stain with kitchen paper and keep going back and diluting the stained area and again mopping up the stain with paper. This is easiest if you remove the garment. Salt can be used to help dry the stain and stop it from spreading.

There are now lots of cleaners with the word OXI in the title. They are VERY GOOD at removing the colour from a stain. (They are widely available and come in aerosol packs or powder form). Check your wash label and wash at the highest recommended temperature. Of course if it says dry clean, then take to a professional. Most cleaners will have expertise in stain removal and could be well worth it in the case of a favourite or valuable garment. If you can, keep the stain moist if it requires further treatment. Dried out stains are harder to remove.

Become A Mom Making Money On eBay

Whether you’re a stay at home mom who need to make money, or you just want to have some cash in your pocket, eBay can help you get there. With eBay, stay at home moms can work whenever they want, in between the time they spend with their families, right from the comfort of their own homes. And with eBay, you can make as much money as you want - anything from some extra spending money, to a full time income, and all in your spare time.

You can get started on eBay within minutes, just by signing up for an account and adding in your bank account information. An account with eBay is totally free, and the only thing you have to pay for are the costs for listing items and the final value fee, which isn’t due until after your item sells.

Even if you think you have nothing to sell on eBay, chances are, you have plenty of stuff laying around the house that you have no use for. You can start selling off items in your home that you don’t need right on eBay, and use the money to start building up a bigger eBay business. Most people don’t realize it, but the average family has over $6,000 worth of stuff just sitting in their homes that they don’t want, that they can sell on eBay for a huge profit. With that money, you can turn your eBay business into quite a lucrative venture.

Selling items on eBay doesn’t have to take a lot of time away from your family, either. You can list new items in the evenings, after your children have gone to bed. Answering e-mails, customer questions and complaints can be done whenever you have a spare moment at the computer during the day. You can ship items one day a week to make it easier, or spread your shipping out to fit in with your schedule. And when scheduled package pick up, you don’t even have to make a trip to the post office - the package delivery service will pick up the items you need to ship right at your front door.

Perhaps the best aspect of running your own eBay business is that you can get paid instantly. With PayPal, you can move money right from your eBay account into your bank account as soon as you make a sale, so your money is available whenever you need it. You don’t need to wait 2 week for a paycheck to go out with your family - just sell a few item, move the money over, and you’re good to go.

eBay is a great resource for stay at home mothers who don’t have time to keep up with a demanding job, but want to make money while still spending their days with their children. With eBay, the hard work is done for you, while you get to see your family all day long, and still make enough money to pay for all of the extras you want for your children. CD & DVD ‘Label’ Printing Made Easy With ‘LightScribe’

I have been updating my computer recently and I replaced my DVD rewriter/burner with a Lite-On LH-20A1H 20x and it came with some new technology I hadn’t heard of before called LightScribe.

If you have ever struggled with labelling kits or you just use a permanent marker pen then this is for you! Actually you should NEVER put sticky labels on DVD’s. They spin so fast that the slightest misalignment can damage the bearings in the drive. Or if part of the label comes off it it could destroy the drive.

I currently use an Epson Stylus photo printer, which has a caddy for printable CDs & DVDs. It uses media which has a white printable surface. The results are quite good but it is slow and a nuisance to setup. Professional CD’s are screen printed but this is only economic if you are going to have hundreds or thousands printed.

What is LightScibe?
There are two parts the equipment & the media. The drive comes with LightScribe technology and software like Nero 7, which includes label burning program. The CD/DVD media is coated in a sensitive emulsion which is activated by the laser inside the drive.

After you have burnt your data onto CD/DVD you simply turn it over and after designing the label with the software provided (It includes label templates) and the CD/DVD is scanned and printed by the laser in seconds!

I think someone must have had a quick moment of genius, to think of this idea of just turning the disk over and using the same drive to print the label. All the main hardware & media manufacturers are now incorporating this technology into their drives and printable media.
So stop using a marker pen and look professional! You can get a LightScribe drive for under £25 and that’s no dearer than an ordinary DVD burner. See: http://lightscribe.com for more details.

How To Improve Picture Quality of LCD Monitors

This week, I bought a new monitor as a replacement for my old Hitachi 17” CM640ET CRT monitor. The picture quality is still very good when it warms up but it is the size of a small bus!

I looked round for a low cost LCD monitor. After reading a few reviews I decided upon the Hanns-G HU196D. The best price was under £100, which I thought was competitive for a 19” Monitor. So it arrived within 24 hours of ordering. It had DVI and VGA inputs but no digital cable came with it? So I connected up with the supplied VGA D-Sub cable.

At first I thought what a beautiful bright picture, then I noticed how the text looked blurry with ghosting. I fiddled with the contrast and brightness but I was still disappointed with the picture text clarity.

So I made some enquiries which led to me buying a digital DVI-D cable. When I installed the cable what a difference to the quality! I am very pleased with the monitor now, except for the small speakers which are a waste of time for music!

Most newer PC's have Video Cards with:

- Standard 15-pin D-Sub VGA connector which outputs an analogue signal
- DVI-D connector which outputs a digital signal.

So, If you do have a DVI graphics card, using a DVI-D cable you'll get a superior picture without any configuration changes compared to Analogue VGA.

The moral is then if you are having problems with your equipment, CHECK your connecting cables and cheapest isn’t always the best option. That goes as well for SCART leads, Home Cinema or Hi-Fi.

If you want to collect my old monitor, it’s for sale in LOOT for £17 ono. I live in Macclesfield Cheshire email rmswing@yahoo.com

Thailand Tips (2)

Hotels & Eating
Like everywhere in the world you pay more for the best locations. If you look a little bit inland there are fantastic deals to be had. So if you are coming as an independent traveller book a hotel for three days and find somewhere cheaper and better. Target guide price about £10 - $20 a night for hotel room. Out in the sticks if you like adventuring, you can get a bamboo hut for £3 a night! If you like seafood Thailand is great. Completely international food available at resorts. You can get a lobster meal in Patong, ‘Savoey Seafood’ for under £6 or you can pay £15 at some posher places.

Cars & Bikes
Use the booking service for taxis at the airport. You will get a metered cab and the driver will probably know the way. Try and get the address of your hotel/destination in both English & Thai. Most Thais speak some English but can’t read it. Your motivation to travel far will soon be sapped by the heat and probably you won’t go anywhere unless you hire a car or a bike. You will soon get fed up with buses or being ripped off by Tuk Tuk drivers.

If you MUST get a bike there is NO INSURANCE. If there is an accident as a foreigner ‘Farang’ its your fault, no question about it. A Thai on a bike or in a car is not the polite person you meet on the street. They are maniacs! When driving, expect random unexpected behaviour, like cats that run across the road without looking and hope for the best! Hire an automatic start/gears bike or scooter unless you are an experienced rider.

The Motor Cycle taxis run 24 hours for short journeys just 40 baht. Only use official ones that wear blue tops in Phuket and I think its red/orange ones in Bangkok. This is not the safest option but these guys have had some kind of ‘official testing’ – you hope!

Cars can be hired from International firms like BUDGET, not the cheapest option but at least you can get COMPREHENSIVE insurance and even damage waive cover.

Thai Girls
You are a single guy and a pretty girl starts chatting to you, yes she may even like & even fancy you – but probably she likes your wallet even more! If you have seen the Film ET - ‘Phone Home’, The Thailand version is ‘Send Money Home’. You are considered a farang ATM machine and they will not sleep with you for free. So be sure of her and your intentions before proceeding.

If you don’t pay they may regard you as a ‘boyfriend’ and the GFE (Girl friend experience) can get VERY expensive! If after a couple of days, she takes you to the gold jewellery shop you are in trouble! If you do go out with them shopping you will get ‘local’ cheaper prices for most things – leaving more money for you to spend on them! (I got an hour on a Jet Ski with local girl instead of usual 20 minutes)

There should be an academy award for some of these girls because they are superb actresses! "My mothers cow is sick it might die, she can’t afford the vets bills" Etc Etc. You don’t want to end up being one of her ten blokes sending money every month! Many a romance has developed from the GFE and sometimes it develops into the WE (wife experience). This may be followed by the DE (divorce experience) and the going home with no money experience.

Remember the song "Will you still love me tomorrow." As long as you realise it’s a very different culture from home, don’t try and fight against it, go with it, enjoy it and you will have a great time. Finally take usual precautions, if you get my drift!

Airport Departure Tax
Remember you need to pay 700 Baht in cash before they will let you leave Thailand! Currency left over? If you come back via Emirates Dubai or Abu Dhabi they will take any currency you have in payment. All the cashiers have calculators and know the current exchange rates. I paid for a sandwich and a drink half in Thai money and half in sterling!

THAILAND TIPS (1)

I recently visited Thailand and here are my Top Tips!

It’s hot and rarely gets cool. I should have remembered, it’s near the equator stupid! Bangkok has the highest AVERAGE temperatures of any city in the world. So pack clothes with short sleeves & shorts. I normally wouldn’t be seen dead in a peaked cap but a cap really helps keep the sun off. Clothes from market are cheap, so travel light. Obviously use sun tan lotion – if you want a tan use factor 15 if you just want protection use 25.

In some locations it is wise to cover your legs and arms in the evenings when the mosquitoes come out. I personally recommend using these products ‘Lifesystems Expedition Plus’ Insect Repellent and ‘Autan Aftersun Aloe Vera Insect Repellent’ Lotion. Use ‘Tiger Balm’ if you get bitten. Don’t leave cuts and wounds untreated as they go septic very quickly in the tropics. Tiger balm seems to be used for every medical condition over there!

Thai Medical Treatment is very good in modern facilities. If you are staying for a while, drugs such as for blood pressure can be expensive as the big brands are controlled by a small number of International wholesalers.

For good or bad there are well known international stores all over the country such as Carrefour, Tesco (Lotus) & Boots so you don’t need to bring the kitchen sink with you! I bought some Carex antiseptic hand wash, which was confiscated at Manchester Airport check In because it was over 150 mls size.

UK Airport Security Rules

Money Matters
Thailand is a cash economy, so don’t expect to pay by Credit Card for your hotel unless it is a well-known international chain. You can use the Internet to book hotels and internal flights to get round this. There are loads of Internet Cafes & Wireless Hot Spots for your laptop. Even travel agents only except cash if you are booking tours or flights. You can only get "cash back" at the big hypermarkets like Tesco & Carrefour but don’t rely on it, always ask before committing to a purchase. You get a poor exchange rate in UK so exchange your most of your cash when you get there! Malaysia/Thailand are the credit card fraud capitals of the world so:

Think like the old days: Take multiple money streams like cash Sterling/Dollars, cards & travellers checks. Have a plan B & C!

Tell your bank if you plan to use your plastic abroad. It probably will still stop working after a couple of days but least you tried!

Find an ATM machine soon after you land at the airport; they nearly all take VISA or MasterCard (Cirrus & Maestro). Check your card works OK. Also There are money changers at the airport – they are regulated to give the correct rate.

Don’t try and make more than one withdrawal a day. Or if you enter your PIN incorrectly, DON’T try again until the next day. It’s an automatic BAD flag!

If your Credit Card stops working, you can usually still withdraw money if you go to a bank with your card and passport. This was a lifesaver for me as ALL my cards stopped working, so I could not draw money from ATM’s.

Always ask how much things cost before you buy and BARGAIN. There are two rates one for locals and one for foreigners (known as ‘Farangs’). All Farangs are regarded as millionaires and walking ATM cash machines. Always be polite and just walk away if it seems too much! Especially Tuk Tuks & Taxis!

Make sure you change big notes 1000 baht break into 500 200 and 100 notes. "I don’t have change sir" is the usual scam. Bear in mind one thousand baht is a large amount of money to an ordinary Thai person, so it is rude to ‘flash your cash’! If you go round the markets you WILL get mythered to buy stuff; again if not interested just politely decline.

Mobile Telephones
If you make a lot of phone calls get a Thai network SIM phone card. Put it in your phone if it is not locked to a network. A phone shop will set it up for you – well worth any extra payment as mine and a friends phone card would not work properly for 24 hours when I set it up myself. You can get top up cards from convenience stores like 7/11. Best coverage one2Call other networks DTAC & True (Orange), you can get mobile internet on your laptop. Internet cafes are everywhere. Mobile Phones are expensive in Thailand but calls are cheap.
